Solidarity with Palestine refugee camp in Yarmouk, Syria!

We publish here a statement by the International Workers Unity-Fourth International (IWU-FI) in solidarity with Palestinian refugees in Syrian who are under siege by right wing, reactionary forces: The Assad dictatorship and ISIS- SC

The Palestinian Yarmouk Camp district, south of Damascus, suffers since mid-2013 a siege by the dictatorship of Bashar al-Assad, which has led to a profound humanitarian crisis. With little food, running water, electrical supplies and medicine, the trickle of victims has continued over the past two years. To the siege by the regime it is added since early April the entry of the self-styled Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) — known as Daesh in Arabic— which in a matter of days has occupied much of the countryside despite resistance by the Palestinian brigades fighting on several fronts: against the Army of al-Assad to the north and against ISIS to the south.

Five years ago nearly 160,000 Palestinian refugees lived in this district of Damascus. The civil war started in 2011 has left only 18,000 civilians caught in the crossfire. Among them are 3,500 children. Because of the bombardments of the regime and ISIS attacks there are dozens dead and hundreds injured. An estimated 200 people have died of starvation. The situation is desperate.

Recently, new Palestinian militias and groups of the town of Daraa supporting the Syrian revolution have joined the battle against Bashar al-Assad and ISIS. Today more than ever we need the unity of all those who are facing in Syria genocidal al Assad and the reactionary ISIS.

International solidarity of the peoples of the world in support of this popular resistance is crucial to help stop this slaughter and defend the lives of thousands of Palestinians in Yarmouk.

From the International Workers Unity – Fourth International (IWU-FI) we join all international sectors that have already begun the movement of solidarity with the Palestinian people of Yarmouk. We call to all democratic and anti-imperialist political, social and student organizations to intensify unitary actions and statements in support and solidarity with the Palestinian people of Yarmouk.
